Getting to RAD Hostel
Colorado Springs is hard to beat for location, as our city sits right in the middle of the state and is linked to the rest of Colorado by Interstate 25, which traverses the entire state from the northern border with Wyoming to the southern border with New Mexico. We are more or less central between Denver, 65 miles/104 km to the north, and Pueblo, 52 miles/84 km to the south.
Transportation options abound for your Colorado Springs vacation, so however you are traveling, you’ll be able to reach our doorstep easily, with some spectacular Colorado scenery along the way.

(65 miles/104 km – approx. 1 hr driving/3 hrs public transportation)
If you’re flying or driving to Colorado, there’s a good chance that you’ll come through Denver, as it’s our capital and largest city/airport. Denver International Airport is the state’s central transport hub, so you’ll have several options available, including renting a car at the airport or taking public transportation.
If you’re going the public transit route, jump on the A Line light rail at the airport, which runs every 15 minutes and connects DIA to Union Station in downtown Denver. From Union Station, you can take the South Line on interstate bus service Bustang, whose buses are a step up from Greyhound, with their stylish purple exteriors, comfy seats, USB charging outlets, and WiFi on board. The Bustang trip takes 2.5 hours and will bring you from Union Station to the downtown bus terminal in Colorado Springs, where you can board local bus routes 9 or 19, both of which travel on or parallel to Nevada Ave within a quarter mile of RAD Hostel.
If you are driving south from Denver, it’s about as straightforward of a route as you’ll find, as you’ll merge onto I-25 in Denver and head south for 60 miles/97 km. After an hour of picturesque views along the saddle of Colorado’s Front Range mountains, you’ll enter the northern part of the Colorado Springs metro area, where you’ll take exit 146, then a quick left on Garden of the Gods Ave, before turning right on N. Nevada Ave.

(17 miles/27 km – 20 minutes driving/1.5 hours public transportation)
If you are arriving by plane, the most direct route is flying into Colorado Springs Airport. Although it has historically played second fiddle to Denver International Airport in terms of size and number of flights, our local airport has expanded over the decades. This growth has been especially noticeable since Southwest came on board recently. They quickly became Colorado Springs’ largest carrier, offering non-stop flights to several cities, including Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. When you’re looking at flights, make sure to check Colorado Springs Airport options in addition to Denver.
Once you land at Colorado Springs Airport, you’ll be just a quick trip across town from us. Lyft and Uber are available from the airport, as well as rental cars and public transportation.
If you rent a car, drive from the airport on Milton E. Proby Parkway and turn onto S. Academy Blvd, from which you’ll merge onto I-25 North for 10 miles and take exit 146. After exiting, take Garden of the Gods Ave to N. Nevada Ave, where we’re just a quarter mile south.
Our extensive local transportation system, Mountain Metro Transit, provides a cheap and convenient way to get from your Colorado Springs Airport gate to your room at RAD Hostel. As this bus map shows, route 37 connects from the airport to the Academy transfer point, where you will then take route 1 to the downtown terminal. Next, you’ll take the 9 or 19 routes, which stop less than a tenth of a mile from our location.
