Located in Telluride, in the San Juan National Forest. This relatively unknown waterfall is exactly what it promotes itself to be; MYSTICAL. The trails is brief but steep so make sure you take care on the trails the take you down right to the water’s edge. From the top of the fall to the bottom, it is beautiful from every vantage point.
Located in Colorado Springs, this 181 foot of the waterfall is the only waterfall in Colorado to make the National Geographic list of International waterfalls. Hike the 224 steps from the base to top, getting the best views with a cooling mist along the way. Enjoy the lights that bring colorful prisms to the falls in the summer months.
In Pagosa Springs, the name comes from Treasure Mountain where legend has it, this spot once held buried gold. The trail requires a short uphill hike, right outside of town and is easily accessible from Highway 160. If you are in the middle of a road trip, stopping to see this waterfall is ideal.
In Mosca, hidden in the San Luis Valley, finding this fall requires a half-mile, uphill hike. It is located down the road from the Great Sand Dunes and provides a great way to blend cool waterfalls with hot sands. There are scenic camping options, and it is recommended to visit in the early spring/summer months (between May and June) when the water range is the most intense.
In Ouray, the “Switzerland of America,” thousands of gallons of water spill over the falls each minute, and thunder loudly down the quartzite, 100-foot walls. Most of the trails are easy but if you are looking for a unique view over-top of the falls, take the High Bridge Trail that is 200-foot elevation and gives you the aerial view of the area that is definitely worth witnessing.
In Telluride, with steep, narrow trails you can see Cornet Creek Falls. Although short the trail can be tricky with the loose-gravel, so make sure you wear good shoes and have clear footing. It is one of the most popular hikes in Telluride, an hour-long round trip, which makes it a nice adventure pretty much any time of day.
